He proved the American dream. Aside from that, he wasn't a bloodthirsty Republican fool ready to invade the wrong country. Essentially, he won the Nobel for NOT being W. Bush. Think of it as the Europeans sighing with relief.

It's because you have to understand the social context behind it- back then the US was being contested for its illegal war in Iraq. Obama pulling the troops out seemed peaceful. But yeah, he bombed other countries so I agree that he doesn't really deserve it.
