How can I fix car paint scratch without going to auto body shop?

There are plenty of DIY kits and touch up paints available on the market, however I don’t know anything about the different coats, layers, primers, and etc. I’m not looking for a professional quality fix, just a few minor scratches that I wanted to fill in. Can you just spray paint directly onto the car after sanding it? I’m just a little lost, thanks for your help :|

If you are not an expert, you will not be able to reproduce the same finish that the manufacturer did. It may look worse than it does now. Check with a local body and paint shop to find out cost of proper repair.

If they are little, thin scratches, get a small bottle of touch-up paint, matching the "factory" color. Get the little bottle with the brush in the cap, like nail polish.

But don't use that brush. Apply tiny drops of the paint, right into the scratch, with a toothpick. It won't be perfect, but it will look really good as long as you're not up close.

Yes, you are lost. Look at almost any autoparts store such as NAPA or LORDCO, White Stores and maybe Walmart. They have a bunch of stuff for cars, ANY CAR. In there they will also have a place where there are both spray cans of "Duplicolor" spray paint and also a smaller container that looks like fingernail polish. in the various car colors to do scratches. Which is all you need. The exact color applied with a little brush. Not perfect but close enough for the girls you go out with. Scratches and dings happen. Not really worth all the paranoia. But it gives you something to play with. You don't want to spray if it is just a scratch. The brush on paint will fill in the groove too, so in a week or 2 you can buff it level. At that time you will be too drunk or high to remember to do that. Just not THAT important.

You're going to make it MUCH worse if you don't know what you're doing and have the right equipment.

spraying paint isnt going to work unless you have special equipment and know how to blend things .. .you can get touch up paint and using a very fine applicator, first clean the area with a good degreaser and dry it, then lay the touchup paint directly in the vally of the scratch .. the neater you are with it the better it will turn out .. if your careful and the paint is correct and matches you can bring the surface up to level and it will look pretty good .. dont touch or try to buff down anything for a week or more after any paint is applied so it can harden first ..
