Can ants squeeze/eat through plastic?

A person should not have to ask this question on the internet, especially when and because they find the answer already!

I find ants everywhere in the kitchen, I don't know how to remove them, I can't use spray because they have chemicals I am allergic to and the food is organic, I asked people and they don't answer, I looked online and I can not find an answer, does anyone know if ants can eat through plastic and food containers, very disgusting because I saw ants in the Chex cereal, I just purchased two days ago and that was really good cereal, I did not even open it, It was vacuum sealed, like usual, I was disgusted because I had to throw away food I did not even open. Somebody answer because this is giving me a headache!

If you are having an ant problem, then get plastic containers such as tupperware or rubbermaid, and use them to hold any products you have that come in cardboard with a plastic lining, such as the chex they got into. Ants can get through paper, and thin plastic, but would not be able to get into thick plastic containers, with the provision that the tops are sealed properly.

I found a link for getting rid of ants naturally, so I hope this helps you out some.

The small ants can & do defeat Tupperware finding a way in. A regular plastic bag they will eat threw to get at things. This is tropics were ants are a problem. Only solution I have found is borax 1-1-1 1 cup borax, dissolve in 1 cup water, add 1 cup honey mix well. Spray were ants can get to or are. It is slow but does kill them & is safe to eat. Borax you can buy at a welding shop. ground or powdered.

Yeah all bugs have mandibles. A set of mandible. To be grammatically correct. Anyways... flour can be invaded by boll weevils. Nasty bugs. Hard to sift thru. I heard some people cook them. I was told by anthe ex that they ard extra protein.

You must have a bad infestation. You'll need to get your home fumigated and maybe live somewhere else for a few days while it airs out. Ants make their homes in your walls so if you're seeing them everywhere it's likely they've turned a wall into a nest. I used to nude borax mixed with sugar water or catfish liquid to attract and poison them but on an infestation like that you'll need a professional

Ants seldom eat through plastic. Chex is packaged in wax paper bags that my be ant permeable. Anyway, I had sugar ants trying to infest my squeeze jar of honey. I put it in a ramekin with a bit of cinnamon in it, and they left it alone. Try a little of the spice to discourage them.

About 50 years ago I read a short story about an "ant man" in Mississippi. The bottom line was that he kept ants out of a house by putting bottle caps full of sugar water under the house. Just sayin'.

sprinkling ground cloves around all windows and doors. Ants don't like it. AND what ever CB said is good advice too.

They shouldn't eat through the plastic...but I would suggest keeping cereal in the freezer...good luck.....

One of the better ant killer products in Terro ant gel. It only contains boric acid as the active ingredient and you place it on small bits of shiney paper or wax paper around the area where you see the ants. Keep replenishing the gel when you find a area that is attracting ants -it might take a couple weeks (but often much faster) but the ants take the bait back to the nest and kill the whole nest. You can also sprinkle ant baits around the outside of your house (Amdro makes a good product - that works the same as the gels).

Since you are "allergic" to everything, you'll need to get a lot of heavy duty Tupperware style plastic containers and keep all your food in them. What ants can't chew thru, they find a way to crawl into.
