Why don't we take mental health care seriously?
If your brain is deficient, you can't make good decisions, but even mental health care workers leave treatment as an option. Since many mentally ill are in denial of their condition, they refuse treatment until they become a crime victim (most likely) or commit some crime (rare)

there is no cure for mental illness only in some cases control through drugs, so no matter how seriously we take it there is nothing we can do about it

Because liberals don't want certain minorities classified as mentally ill. It hurts their voter turnout.

1.Because mental health issues are so numerous and varied.
2. Because most understand that the science is flawed beyond all other sciences.
3. I drive on US roads and see mental health issues every second: you sort of get immune to it.
4. I obey the laws, am not a danger to myself or others and tend to mind my own business so unless you draw down on me the issue is not on my priority list.

Mainly because of the implications of the double-edged sword..what if someone decides that a person with an unpopular stance "must be mentally ill" and "needs treatment?"
