Hair grows at about the same rate as hair, about 0.5 inch per month or 6 inches a year. Since you need trims even when you're growing your hair out, figure on your hair getting about 4 inches longer per year.

How long is your hair now? Your hair grows on the average 1/2 an inch a month.

If you have a short haircut, it could take 6 months to a year.
