Listen. This isn't something new, and Edward isn't the first Earl of Forfar. The first Earl of Forfar was given the title in 1661. Prince Edward's grandmother, The Queen Mother, was descended from the Earl of Forfar so it makes sense someone in that line has the title. It's tradition to receive titles. I'm surprised Edward did not receive that title earlier.
