To determine the energy, multiply the power by the time in seconds. One watt is one joule of energy per second. To determine the power, use the following equation.
P = V * I = 120 * 0.5 = 60 watts
t = 1 * 60 = 60 seconds
Q = 60 * 60 = 3600 j

first figure out the WATTS .... Joules per second
W = I x V = 120 x 0.5 = 60
in one second you use 60
in one min you uses 60 times more
60 x 60 is 3600
