WAS THAT ERA AWESOME OR WHAT??!!!! WOW!!!! The 1980's was the perfect storm. America was still number one in industry output, the 1960's liberal wave was still going strong, there was more respect each other no matter what color skin, creed or religion. There was a new found interest in African American culture and their contributions, the music was insanely great ( so many timeless hits), the clothes were far out and so defined the era, the movies were all hits, there were less wars, no terrorism on the scales we see today, Congress worked better together, human life was more well respected, there were better conservation measures, no one told you what to think or do with your health or life, you could ride a bike with no helmet, there were no snow flakes, everything wasn't racist, homophobic, mysoginist, or offensive. People made a better paycheck, government took out less money, healthcare was cheaper, friends and family could just show up without booking an appointment. You had more privacy spent more useful hours doing things, social media and all the hate it generates was nowhere to be found, people partied like there was no tomorrow,,,laughed and loved each other as we all should do the same today and put aside our differences and realize we are all in this together and can do it again. I mean the list is endless,,it truly was the perfect storm of happiness. I agree too that everyone alive today whether 5 or 105 all agree in some shape or form that the 1980's were good times for all, not just white as some fool said in an answer. I mean EVERYONE here and even abroad in the EU, ASIA etc. remember it for many good things...so many. I'm hopeful I see that again in my lifetime for everyone.

No way. A lot of things made the 80s great. Looking back, one of them was clearly not having social media.

It will be a hard decade to match or surpass - it was pretty great, wasn't it? :)
