minor traffic infraction - contest logistics?

I was merging onto a 4 lane road (at a 4 way intersection). it was red light but legal as long as I yield to oncoming traffic. cars were going 15 mph and so was i. how likely is it to win these contest? I felt like this whole thing was so stupid everyone was going slow at 11:30 in the morning with barely no traffic.

You didn't say what the ticket was for, but if it was for failing to stop at a Red Light you will lose. You are right you do need to yield, but you also must come to a full and complete stop before proceeding, and it doesn't sound like you did that.

Based on your other questions and past history, I don't think you will have much luck trying to contest it.

If what you did was legal, why were you cited?

Not sure, as you don't say what the violation was.

It sounds like the way was not clear for you to merge or merge safely. What makes you think you can contest it successfully? It sounds like a slam dunk deal to me. Contesting it will cost you. Sometimes, have the good sense to pay up and move on. Fortunately, you didn't hurt anyone, right?

Your infraction history says to me you need to be removed from the highway. At least a 90 day suspension of driving privileges.

My friend got a ticket for doing right on red without stopping--the traffic camera filmed it. He had to pay the $350 fine in a California town.

I did the same thing this morning just as my light turned red. But I did a complete stop and entered my marked boundary of the intersection before cross traffic began to cross their marked boundary of the intersection.
