I am a art collector. I think your painting is lovely, serene and amazing as a first painting. I am partial to lanscapes, impressionism and realism. Keep painting...

I love it. Very atmospheric. Very still. Now it needs a touch of movement. Some tiny birds flying across the scene and in the water. A small boat on the water causing ripples. Some little touches to give it life.

You have a foreground, a middle ground and a back ground, so the eye moves around the painting, which to me, is a good sign, especially for a beginner. Good going.

IMO the composition - the scene - is pretty awful. Try to paint something that has a focal point. A person, a barn, a cow, a flower. Maybe not front and center but something that catches the viewer's attention. Your technique is quite good for a novice. Some color would be good, too.

For a first attempt, it is very good. You obviously have talent, so keep up with it. Enjoy the retirement, and keep being productive.

it is in fact my first completed painting. I have worked on several that I have painted over and have followed along on many YouTube tutorial study subjects, which is only working parts of a painting, this is the first one I have completed.

I'm no artist, but that's impressive!
