Does a fraud alert also protect you from bank accounts being opened in your name?

I know a fraud alert protects you one step further from credit cards being opened in your name....but does it also protect you from bank accounts like checking accounts, etc. being opened in your name as well? Because those don't show up on credit reports?

Also, what other things besides credit cards being opened in your name does it protect against? Like insurance policies, etc.?

Thanks!

No. It just alerts you that new accounts were opened.
