I don't want to cut my hair for work because I don't want to give up my femininity? What should I do?

Follow your employer's rules or get another job.

That's a pretty ignorant question, I do have to say. Where did you get the idea that long hair gives you feminity?? Hardly!!!

You may look a whole lot better with it short. Or it could be a safety hazzard. If you don't know how to handle your hair, then you shouldn't be in that job. Get it cut, or get out!!!

You've posted this before. Everyone told you to put your hair up. Other than that there's really nothing to do but cut it if you won't wear it up. I feel like you just want someone to beg you not to cut it. Also long hair does not make a woman more feminine that's in how you carry yourself. If you act like a guy people will assume you're not very feminine not a girly girl. It's in how you dress and how you act.

Don’t do it unless it is a requirement for the job

    nice question!

  • Most jobs don't require you to cut your hair.

If you can just tie it up if it's a safety issue.

Do whatever you want to do! Since you said that you don't want to cut your hair, don't cut it!

Why would you have to cut your hair for a job? If it's a safety hazard, tie it back in a pony tail or a tight bun.

Other than military service, I would not cut my long hair for a job. I would find a way to put it up and back securely and neatly and ask my employer to approve me wearing it that way.

If hair poses a safety risk, a secure updo that still allows you to wear required safety gear like a hardhat should satisfy most employers. If it's not a matter of safety, do you really want to work for an employer that feels entitled to control the length of your hair? It's among the reasons the Yankees suck.
