These images over the desert surface are so gigantic, that the only way to appreciate them in its real dimension is by aircrafts. The true origin of these figures is unknown; nobody really knows who build them or the why.”

It's OK up to "200 km2," -- After that, I would edit it like this:
... the old Chilean men traced huge designs, mostly geometric shapes and figures that stretch across the desert for many kilometers.
These images over the desert surface are so gigantic that the only way to appreciate their true dimensions is by aircraft. The origin of these figures is unknown; nobody really knows who built them, or why.”
