Why does my husband ask me what needs doing only to counter and tell me what he IS going to do?

I work with my husband. Therefore when he comes in the shop I often have to tell him "this needs doing" as I am clearly working on something else of importance. He will make a million excuses on why he can't do it or choose to do something other than what I ask him to do. This drives me crazy. At home it is the same. I can ask him to help with the house but he will say "tomorrow" only tomorrow has not gotten here after 10 years.

He obviously doesn't like anyone telling him what to do. So you should stop doing that. Find more subtle ways of communicating what needs to be done rather than your direct statements. I know, its a pain and he should be more mature. But he's not. So you have to be the adult. And if he can't help run your business without you telling him what needs to be done, then maybe you need an employee and he needs to do something else.
