They were on a bill with four other bands.

One of the most boring concerts I've ever been to, as all the bands tried to sound just lie the albums, with no stepping out of line it all.

And that was 25 years ago, when they weren't just a bunch of old guys looking for one more payday.

As for the Devil routine?

That is just schlock for the conservative metalheads, who expect such things as routine.

I haven't been to a Slayer concert, but a few of my friends saw them at Aftershock in Sac a few years ago and they loved it.

I think you're seriously mistaken. The band itself isn't satanic. As Ducky said, they use that imagery for the shock factor. They don't really believe in that kind of stuff. Though, it is ironic that Araya is a Catholic singing about satanic things. What's next, do you also believe that Metallica is satanic?

I have been to 5. The first one in 81. As for you finding them disturbing and appalling. You arent the first to have those feelings. Slayer from basically their inception, have been the target of religious and parental groups. But the members themselves are a far cry from their music. Tom Araya who is the bands bassist and lead singer. Has been on many TV shows and radio broadcasts. Saying that the content of their songs are stuff that they find interesting. Not that any of the band members actually believe in that stuff. Araya also defends the band and says they arent satanic. Freedom of speech is a very big deal, in the US and what Slayer is doing falls under that umbrella. Also you are entitled to your opinion. Regardless of what others think.

Ozz Fest 2004

I have. Three of them. And two of those were back-to-back dates on the tour. They were absolutely fantastic. Pure energy. They just blew the roof off the place. They played stuff from every release they had to their name up until then. All three nights were just an incredible experience. Slayer is a band that delivers live. I stood in line for hours to get those tickets and it was totally worth it. Even after all these years (this would have been the tours for "Divine Intervention" and "Undisputed Attitude"), I can still say that few metal shows I've seen since could compare with them. If you didn't see Slayer in their prime, you missed out - BIG TIME.

Not been to a full Slayer concert but I have seen them at a music festival, they were great. If it helps you feel better, it's just music, the lead singer Tom Araya is Catholic. Slayer (and a lot of metal bands) use Satanic imagery and lyrics to scare people, just like a horror movie. They're not to be taken seriously
