Is Zero an Even or an Odd Number?

    Zero is even because:

    1) It's evenly divisible by 2 leaving no remainder (0/2 = 0 r 0)

    2) Like all even numbers it ends with 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8

    3) The integers alternate odd, even, odd, even... Zero is between two odd numbers.

    4) The sum of two even numbers is still even. Since 0 + (even) = (even), 0 must also be even.

Those that are saying zero is neither are confusing this with negative and positive. Zero is a neutral number (neither negative nor positive). But this doesn't affect its ability to be classified as even.

    Answer:

    Zero is definitely *even*

By definition it can be considered EVEN.

It lies between two odd numbers ... 1 and -1

and dividing it by 2 leaves no remainder.

Zero is Even because it lies between two odd numbers.

Even. Any whole number ending in "0" is a multiple of 10, which is divisible by 2 and 5.

Even, because 0/2 = 0, no remainder stands whatsoever.

Zero is even, as you argue.

There's no circumstances where zero is taken to be odd,

nor can it be taken to be neither odd nor even.

Zero is a lack of number. It isn't even or odd, I'd guess, though if I'm wrong then I might say that it's even since it's located between -1 and 1.

0 is even because 0÷2 has no remainder.
