working interview dental assistant - ask for pay?

so I just got into dental assisting not a lot of experience. im talking to this doctor who wanted me to come in for only 2 and a half hours for a working interview. since its rather short should I still ask if it will be paid. I understand it could be used as a way to get a feel for my skills

You do not ask if you will be paid.

You *might* get paid for the time you're there, but you don't ask in advance.

    No.

It is an interview. You will not be paid.

You either consider it an investment in getting the job or you tell them you are not interested and move on.
