How can I spend less on food?

Is food necessary?

Yes

Is extravagant food necessary?

No

That is my problem.

In recent weeks, Ive been making more money and Im spending it so much on restaurants.

I always drink coffee at my house or job but sometimes I go over to this little cafe by my job where they have some cheap little things but then I not only get a coffee, I get coffee cake or these delicious pistachio muffins.

When Im out between Thursday and Friday, I would go out to a restaurant with some friends, whoever, really

Last Saturday I had pork tacos a glass of Cabernet. I really wanted desert, but instead of spending like $7 in that restaurant for a tiny cheesecake, i spent $1 on a donut from a little food truck.

Thats not the point. The point is that I should not have eaten the donut at all.

And why the wine? Couldn’t i just had water?

See, this is what im trying to fix

Eat at home. Brown bag your lunch to work. Stay away from restaurants.

Take a cooking class in your spare time. Who knows, it may even be fun, you'll meet new people and have a new hobby. Don't knock eating out completely out of your life, but slowly get used to having stuff at home to cook and then freeze your leftovers. Pur or Britta filter pitchers are pretty good for clean water at home.

As long as you are able to pay your bills, save money for both emergencies and your wish list, make plans for the future ect, don't beat yourself up about it. Just be aware that life is in constant change, people lose jobs or get demoted all the time. Be ready for anything-it's quite a ride!

if u want to reduce your spending - EAT AT HOME. and if u want to have some fun time - eat at a nice place and something much nicer than taco. my advice to u if u want to reduce spending - eat out less but once u do that - enjoy full blast. and honestly - u give me money i wouldn't eat muffin - total waste of calorie intake. if u want smth sweet and nice - full blast dark chocolate cake with lots of butter cream and the taste to die for. not some dry muffin. yew

You spend less by making choices about not spending so it is totally down to you and you disciplining what you spend, on what and when

Life is short. Enjoyment of a good meal is one form of instant gratification in an otherwise thankless world.

Best answer: Instead of trying to deny yourself something that clearly provides you pleasure (eating out) you can save just as much money by eliminating waste.

For example, if you eat out and don’t finish the meal ask for a doggy bag. Put the leftovers in the freezer instead of leaving them in the fridge to throw out later.

Save money on a night in with friends by getting a frozen pizza instead of delivery. Freeze the leftovers instead of throwing them out.

Get a filter for your tap instead of buying bottled water.

I see so much waste everyday it’s unbelievable. People buy veggie packs, eat half and throw out the rest. Or, buy a bottle of water, drink half and throw the rest in the trash.

Not only is being wasteful bad for the environment, it’s also bad for your wallet.

If those things make you happy and you can afford them in your long term financial goals, then why beat yourself up over it? You have to enjoy life; not just live it.

Self discipline. It seems you have none.
