    a) z = -5

    Modulus = |z| = |-5| = 5

    Argument = 180°

    b) z = -5+5i

    Modulus = √[-5^2+5^2] = √50

    = 5√2

    Argument = arctan (5/-5) = arctan (-1)

    = 135°

    a. -5 = -5 + 0i. This equates to (-5,0) on an x,y graph. Mod(-5+0i) = 5 (the distance from (0,0) to (-5,0)) and Arg(-5+0i) is the angle from the positive x axis anticlockwise to the point, which is 180° (or π radians).

    b. -5 + 5i. Mod(-5+5i) = √((-5)²+5²) = 5√2. Arg(-5+5i) = 135° (or 3π/4 radians).
