Wearing leggings when Rock Climbing?

And accidently slid inside. Tumbled. Was sliding feet first when one legging snagged a ribbon

of ice. A body length distant from a cliff exit portal. Companions extended a static line he could

prusik up using mechanical ascenders. I last wore mine on an iced volcano.

Only if your legs are super attractive

Leggings are totally fine. Something with a bit of give in them (leggings, lyrca, gym trousers, some jeans) - as long as you can move freely and there isn't anything too baggy (if you are climbing with a harness, it will need to fit snuggly without large belts etc)

Leggings are completely appropriate. Many (most) woman climbers that I know wear them at the climbing gym and when climbing outside. Jeans or any other type of pants not specifically designed for climbing, hiking, etc. often will limit the kinds of movement required for climbing.

If the leggings can withstand the wear, fine. Jeans might be better.

I had an American friend who was rock-climbing with some British women. Noticing that one of them was wearing a skirt, he looked up and said, "I thought you would be wearing knickers today." He couldn't understand why she got miffed. For those of you who are as perplexed as he was, Brits refer to the pants that end just below the knee in an elastic band as plus-fours. To them, knickers refers to what Americans call panties.
