Dodgers. I know where their name comes from, yet I couldn't believe the reason they chose the name.

    Go Dodgers !.

  • I think they are one of the founding members of The American League and can trace their History back to 1903. I have no problem with their name.

The Cincinnati baseball team is named after a color

Chicago and Boston both have teams named for the color of their socks

And the Green Bay football team is apparently named after a moving company.

And God only knows what an "Astro" is supposed to be.

'Fans' who don't bother to learn their sport's history are the stupidest fans ever. For many, many years, an elephant was the franchise mascot. In 1965, when the team was in Kansas City after moving from Philadelphia where it was founded, then-owner Charlie Finley changed the elephant to a mule. The story was that he was a big Democrat and the elephant is the symbol of the Republican party and the donkey the symbol of the Democrat party. In 1988, the elephant went back on home and away jerseys and is still the team's mascot.
