Me neither. I live in a free state. No license is required to own a crossbow, long gun, hand gun, or to vote.

In State of Confusion the Crossbow is called a 'Poachers Tool' from some historic use and must have same license as pistol/firearm. In State of Delusion a crossbow is a handicapped/disabled user tool and needs a license because the person needs med check, doctors statement to show police and DNR. that he/she is 'disabled' and then is legally allowed to use the special tool. In Wisconsin a Crossbow was restricted in hunting to disabled person during special archery season. Now it is allowed for over 65 and in some other seasons, open season but not for muzzle loaders- may have been some changes. Your ACTUAL STATE OF RESIDENCE MAY HAVE DIFFERENT LAWS. Especially if you're in UK.

Go to the library and ask the librarian to find the law for you to read concerning your issue. We are all bound to obey laws, but finding out what the laws are isn't easy sometimes.

You "want" to go hunting? Who gives a ****? I hunt. I hunt with a license wherever I need to because it protects both the land and wildlife. As far as tools used?

Why those big *** tools that impress you zeros so much can sit with you dumbshits in prison as you get put away for poaching one by one.

I'll just eat all the delicious wild game myself.

Try using details. Try reading you question, and details, like someone from a different state or country would and then consider if you make sense.

So far, I have you nailed to the 3rd rock from the sun, a planet named Earth that boasts over 300 countries, 1700 states, 35,000 counties and nearly half a million cities and towns all with different laws.

Are you in Norway, Poland or Sweden? I see, you could be in Kommiefornia or Oregonistan. Excluding the aforementioned, in most jurisdictions you cannot use a crossbow during firearms season or archey season They are usually relegated to the Primitive season or physically disabled.

You don't need a firearm licence with any form of archer hunting, but you DO need a hunting license.

Not about what you hunt with, a firearm is just that, it is about the population control of the animals you hunt.

That is something determined by DNR then the licensing with fish and game.

I can't rule out some weapon license being bundled together by a state that includes firearm, that I don't know as what very little hunting I do is with firearms.

Any idea why you have a license to drive a car?

HINT: It can be dangerous and deadly if improperly used. By requiring a license, the government is at least reducing the probably that you will misuse that car.

Same deal for the crossbow. It can be dangerous and deadly if improperly used. So a user must be licensed to prove he can use it properly.

It doesn't make any sense to me either. Even though it can be effective weapon, it's clearly not a firearm (no fire involved). If it's true that it is considered a firearm where you live, then lawmakers are just being lazy (and illogical) by grouping them together. I used to own one, there were no requirements where I live (BC, Canada). I just walked in a store, bought one, and went out into the forest and played around with it. I used mine just for fun. I do understand the need for a hunting licence to hunt with one though.
