Not at all. Yahoo closed them down several years ago because of financial reasons as well as for the growing pedophilia problem there. Its closure also was a result of an absence of user moderation.

With all the chat rooms on the internet and the trouble and money it takes to moderate such functions, Yahoo probably sees no upside to having them. Remember, there has to be a profit.

probably not.
Yahoo started achieving momentum with it's chatrooms, but decided to shut down it's chatroom website in 2005 after advertisers started pulling out due to the lack of moderation in the chatrooms.
There are essentially two barriers to running chat rooms:
The technical - many-to-many realtime broadcast is non-trivial and complex to scale across multiple servers
The social - you need to have some level of moderation, as the real-time nature of chatrooms seems to attract trolls seeking instant gratification.
It's also possible the chat rooms just have inherent growth limitations - you can only have so many active participants in a chatroom before it becomes impossible to follow the conversation. To hit the mainstream you need some way of being able to scale while still maintaining a community.
