Many fools on this site continue to defend it as anti spam. The thing here is that the filters put in place a few months ago stopped 100% of bot spam. There has not been any spam since, and if there is, it is by humans. This means that adding captchas does nothing at all other than to annoy all of the legitimate users on this site. If there are even any human spammers left they are in the extreme minority and should have been dealt with accordingly in a less lazier way than slapping on the captcha code onto the site code.

I thought yahoo system has gone bonkers. I wish yahoo would tell me first so I would not go nuts.

It is a new anti-spam measure to prove that you are a human and not a bot. It is being used to fight spam on the site.
