how to treat tooth pain while nerve is healing?
i'm in agonizing pain if i'm not swishing cold water in my mouth. so every five minutes i have to change out the water to keep it cold and keep the pain at manageable levels. i was told the pain is from sore nerves in my two front teeth, from grinding or clenching my teeth at night. dentist said there's really nothing they can do except wait for the nerves to heal, and wear a mouth guard at night from now on. but the pain is unbearable, and i can't sleep if i have to get up every 5 minutes to get more water. please help.
i've tried topical numbing agents, clove oil, and salt water. the only thing that has worked is cold. the pain was much lesser earlier in the day and i could just suck in air to calm it down, but for some reason after eating it's too intense and requires ice water.
