Is there a word that means whether a thing happens at night or during the day?
I know nocturnal means at night, could probably come with the word that means by day, but I need a word for that attribute of a thing - it s, what - diurnality? something. A word that means its "night or dayness of occurrence". Anyone know how to say that?

I'm not sure whether "diurnality" is a word, but it would be clear to me what you meant if you used it something like this:
"The diurnality of the animal is uncertain."
But you could also use the known good word "diurnal" this way:
"Whether or not the animal is completely diurnal is uncertain."

Diurnal means during the day.
Crepuscular means at twilight (near sunrise and sunset).
