Are cheap shoes worth the money or should I buy the more expensive pair?

As my mother would always say: we are too poor to buy cheap shoes.
The logic behind this saying is that cheap shoes don't last as long as expensive, good quality ones. By fixing or replacing them frequently, you are likely to spend more than the cost of a good pair could have been.
Plus, good quality shoes are usually much, much more comfortable and need less maintenance, like insoles and so on... Wish someone had told me that earlier, lol.
Here's some inspiration for you:

it shouldn't matter how much money you spend on a pair of shoes if you look after them properly

Honestly I bought so many cheap shoes and clothes in my time, I would say save for the expensive as they will actually last you.

I've learned, at my wise old age, that if you spend $100-200 (or more) on shoes instead of $20-$50 (or less or just a little more), your more expensive shoes last so much longer. The lesser ones, you have to continually purchase. Shoes and purses should never be too cheap.

Focus on quality and how well they feel and
Support your arch and ignore the popularity
Or what's in or fashionable. Focus on functional
And well made and dependable. Some things
Are undervalued and some are over priced.
Look at everything and try them on and find
What works for you. I bought under armor
Shoes but they stopped making my brand
So after the last pair wears out. I will have
To go find new shoes I like. Good luck

It's worth it to buy more expensive shoes if they last longer than cheaper ones. If you have pain in your feet, more expensive shoes that have arch support or whatever features you need are actually not expensive at all.

You should value shoes regardless of the value. What difference would it make if you're still going to wear out the expensive pairs?

There are things to factor into your decision.
How stylish are the shoes? If they're in style now, how long until they're out of style?
Are they a classic style you might wear for as long as they last?
Are they made of full grain leather, regular leather, or a man-made material?
Are your feet still growing, or has this been your size for three or four years now?
Are your tastes in fashion still changing, or are these shoes in the style you preferred for years?
Stylish, man-made, with feet growing or tastes evolving, cheap is great.
Classic style for a person whose size and style is fixed, get leather, even though it costs more.
