Is this a correct sentence?

"Further to this, I was previously given the idea to apply to University of ABC by my acquaintances who study and have already graduated from there."

if not, can you help me to make it better? what will be the correct version? (you can change it if needed).

It's way too wordy. The past tense of "study" is "studied", which would make grammatical sense. But it's still too wordy. Just use the word "alumni" to refer to your acquaintances, as the word "alumni" already means a group of people who studied and graduated a specific university. It can be shortened and reworded as:

"Furthermore, my alumni acquaintances of the University of ABC recommended that I apply there."

The experience of some of my acquaintances who either study at, or have studied and graduated from, ABC U made me think this was the university I would like to attend. Maybe?
