Why are there always spider webs all over my car mirrors? It's not like they can nest there, can they?

It is probably gossamer . Threads of spider silk released by baby spiders being carries by the breeze .

Source(s): a fine, filmy substance consisting of cobwebs spun by small spiders, seen especially in autumn.

Any crack or crevice can be a home to a spider.

Ones I find most are orb weavers and sac spiders, now and then, crab spiders or cute jumping spider.

Usually the sort that navigate by ballooning. Some of that web may be from spiders dragline they leave in their hunt for insects.

Not anything to be concerned about, when I spot the spider itself, I put it in nearby shrubs out of harms way.

Some types of spiders 'fly', they climb up high and spin one LONG strand of silk and let it catch the wind and carry them away, to new homes. These 'long strands' blow along the ground until they get long enough to pick-up the tiny spider and carry him away. IF you were to drive-thru such a strand, you might snag the tiny spider, & he MIGHT build a web on your car to see what food he could catch in his 'new' home ...............................
