How do you get rid of flies?
I work for a deli. We always have tons of flies. We do have blue light bug catchers and use peppermint but it doesn't keep them away. I've read about lavendar but another employee is allergic. Uh! How do we get rid of them without health code violations?

Flies are awful!!! Blue lights don't work that well on them because they aren't attracted to the light like other bugs are.
I don't think there is anything that will keep them away. The best you can do is kill them when they're around. Combine 1 cp apple cider vinegar, 1/2 cp water, 1/4 cp sugar and 2-3 drops of dish soap in a jar. A mason jar works best because you want to cover it with plastic wrap and you can stretch the wrap over it and then put the jar ring on to hold the wrap tightly in place. Now cut 3-4 holes in the plastic just big enough for the flies to crawl in. Dump it out and refill it with more sweet vinegar mixture every couple of days

keep the doors closed. the blue light zappers draws flys in so get rid of that.
somewhere they are getting into the building.
All food establishments I know of and have worked at had professional exterminators on file to help with stuff like this. have the boss call one.

What kinds of flies are they? If it's hundreds of tiny fruit flies get the place cleaned up and keep cleaning ALL the surfaces and then keep all waste sealed. House flies like damp unclear corners and surfaces too. Vitally important for outside bins too. Have a flyscreen over the doors, people used to put up with them in the days before those blue zappers that don't work too well.
If you have a major infestation then you may need to call a professional pest controller.
