Career in Nursing or in Accounting?

Is it better to be a nurse or an accountant? For those who have experience in either or both, please share. Consider roads to becoming either (education), job market demand (outsourcing, immigration, part-time/full-time), hours expected to work, pay, etc.

You need to have a lot of patience and very good people/social skills to be a nurse. The stress of having to deal with unruly people and having to force a smile on a daily basis will really get to you. On the contrary, as an accountant, you'll spend most of your time alone punching in numbers and solving math problems all day, everyday. That said, you will need to be very good at math.

On average, an accountant makes twice as much as a nurse but the stress levels of a nurse are sill a lot higher than that of an accountant. I'd say nurses can make 28-40K in their first year and accountants can make up 60K in their first year.

Accountants require a bachelors degree and you need to pass a state exam before you become an official accountant. To be a nurse, I'm pretty sure you just need a 2 year tech school degree.

Part-time and full time jobs really depend on where you go.

    Good luck!
