The Women's World Cup was a terrific event and I think a lot of us really enjoyed it. I was amazed at the improvement in all departments ... skills, endurance, strength, speed, passing and heading.

What a shame about all this other cr@p that has happened afterwards. Sport should remain as far removed from sex, politics and religion as is humanly possible. Sport is one of the greatest triumphs of the modern era and has united many countries and peoples in a common love. You remember the story of the first world war when the guns fell silent and soldiers kicked a ball around in no man's land instead of killing each other? That is sport.
