Can you close your eyes in sleep paralysis?

Just curious but people always talk about seeing some creature or demon during sleep paralysis but Ive always wondered if you could just close your eyes and go back to sleep.

There is nothing worse than feeling threatened and helpless at the same time. I used to have bouts of SP as a kid. Once I realized I was having an attack, my main focus was to try to open my eyes and awaken. I found if I could change the position of my head and take pressure off my neck I could wake up.

After experiencing sleep paralysis, it's easy to see where the idea of succubus, incubus, astral projection and alien abductions came from. The hallucinations can feel so real.

Glad I grew out of these episodes.

why would you close your eyes if there was a demon there?

but yeah. you can. i used to see demons some mornings from ages 4-6 (and possibly earlier). i'd get scared and close my eyes hoping to fall asleep.
