What solutions would you recommend for protecting artworks and archaeological sites during times of war?

Archaeological sites are difficult to protect, because they cannot be moved to safe places. A suitably strong cover could be built over such places, or they could be filled in and disguised to look like the surrounding landscape.

Art works are much easier to protect. They can be taken out of their galleries and museums - as was done in the UK during World War 2 - and taken to a safe place. Many art works were taken to abandoned mines and quarries at that time, and they were far away from likely bombing targets.
