Do you believe Greek myth has any basis in historical events and people?

yeah probably .. you could find out it all if it's true with time travel.. hah

One purpose of a myth is a description of historical events which are passed down through generations. Cities such as Thebes, Orchemenos, Sparta did exist during the Bronze Age and waged war with each other. Archaeology has shown that a city called Troy did exist and Hittite records show that a Trojan king named Alexander (possibly Paris) did exist. It is quite likely that Menelaus, Achilles and others mentioned in the myths were real people and they were such renowned warriors that memories of them and their deeds were remembered.

Some, yes. The ancient Greeks believed that Troy was located near the Dardanelles and that the Trojan War was a historical event of the 13th or 12th century BC, but by the mid-19th century AD, both the war and the city were widely seen as non-historical. In 1868, however, the German archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann met Frank Calvert, who convinced Schliemann that Troy was a real city at what is now Hissarlik in Turkey. On the basis of excavations conducted by Schliemann and others, this claim is now accepted by most scholars.
