Why is the age of consent in New York State 17?

    Because that's what the NY state legislature decided it should be. Ask THEM why.

    That is the age state legislators have chosen. I don't know how that was consistent with 14 year olds being able to legally marry adults until recently.

    Because that is how the law is written.

    In your specific "case," that law applies to male on male sex as well as male on female sex. Just so you know while you're prancing around in women's short shorts with your legs shaved - which you posted a myriad of times.
