Can I load a different operating system onto Topfield TF-T6211 PVR?

A while ago when my aging Win multimedia PC was in the process of dying, I picked up a Topfield TF-T6211 PVR which runs Android. I don’t have any other android devices and didn’t know how much I would hate it. It has a Duel-Core ARM Cortex A9 processor, 500GB HD, USB and LAN. Not sure on RAM, but I think its 2Gb. It’s still collecting dust.

Is it possible to load a different operating system onto it that would recognize the TV tuner?

Unfortunately if you have to ask that, then you clearly cannot do so.

The variant of Android for that machine will, as with all Android variants, have been customised for use on that device, and the hardware profile will have been designed with Android in mind from the outset.

Adapting any of the three major alternative operating systems, Windows, Linux or Apple OS, would need extensive software engineering skills and possibly some hardware changes as well. Apple don't even make their OS available for use on hardware that they haven't supplied it with.

Add to that mix the fact that your PVR is now old and obsolete and you can't even use the latest versions of current alternative operating systems. Your best bet would likely be a Linux variant but Android itself is derived from Linux so you may hate that even more.
