Generally an apartment, but it depends on where. Research the area by going on travel websites and then checking a real estate site for rentals. In some cases long-term rental hotels can be equivalent to rent.

Apt. but most won't rent for just a month.

An apartment is cheaper per month, but it would be VERY rare to be able to rent one for less than 6 months, almost always a year. There are extended stay hotels that might give a good option.

Apartment. On average a budget hotel is $100 a night...or $3000 a month. A studio apartment in the most expensive cities average $1800-$2500 a month.

Renting. It might be 2,000$ a month.

    A Hotel might be 200$+ a Day.

A B&B might be less expensive.

Expenses will of course be dependent on Location and services needed.

Some hotels have deals if you rent multiple weeks, but an apartment would be better
