Does anyone else Collect Just Rare/holo Pokemon Cards? (New Collector)?

Hi there,

I am thinking about starting up my collection again. begging with the base set to rekindle my childhood memories lol.

I was just wondering does anyone else just collect the rares/holos, as these are the ones that are the most appealing to me and the ones i believe will hold the most value in the long term.

Advice and opinions are appreciated.

    I collected full sets, and would replace cards with shiny variants when possible.

    I don't think that many individual cards will 'hold value' though, the ones that have the value to collectors are older, scarcer cards that didn't have as wide of a print run as today's rarest set cards. Lugia Ex and Pokemon 'star' are examples.
