    It's big enough so it eventually will. It's just a question of when.

    Spica has a mass that is conductive to go supernova. But it is a bit too young to blow up, at only 12.5 million years.

    Not within our lifetimes. It's halfway through its life cycle and is 240 to 250 light years from earth..
