We dated a little over two months and he got a second job which made him working seven days a week and no free time..so i ended it with him over a text message..he replied with"im sorry to hear that, but i get it and understand. I hope that we can still be friends though, cuz i do care about you" sounds very passive ya?

he sounds very realistic. most young people today avoid dating because they're too busy trying to eek out a living.

I think he cared about hurting your feelings which is why he made up excuses about working seven days instead of just breaking up with you. Not exactly mature on his end, but it is evidence that he DID care about you.
ETA: Yes it's a guess, but a logical guess. Any man who has the warmies for a woman will find some time to see her even if he is working two jobs.
