Why do so many people ask questions about things that don't actually affect their lives?

    I'm interested in all kinds of things that don't impact me directly. Why? Curiosity, I suppose. I just want to know stuff. I'm not really sure why, but what does it hurt? Why should we only be interested in stuff that impacts us directly? That would make for a boring life.
