Is it worth it to choose HR as a career to go to school for?

I want to be an HR manager. I live in Ontario and I was wondering if there were any other people who took HR here? Maybe you can tell me about your experience? Is it a lot of school? What did you do when you first finished school and how was the pay/how easy was it for you to find a job? Thanks for your time!

I was a business administration major but I did a lot of H/R during my career. I take satisfaction that my ability to select the best employees was a large factor in whether the Company succeeded or failed and it is now a big operation in the US. But you have to realize that the employer and employee form an unwritten agreement and if the employee does not perform to the standard required, the H/R person has to end the employment relationship.
