anyone an expert on thunderbird email program?

Update:

I am on windows 7, using thunderbird. Just today I have found that though I can download my emails from the server, I can no longer send email; I get a message that "Login to server smtp.suddenlink.net with username _____________@suddenlink.net failed". I've done error checking, windows updates, restarting and all the other tricks; I don't think it's my computer, as this is happening on both my desktop and my laptop.

    I'm answering my own question: I needed to change the smtp port number to one that would work. that worked

    Seems that suddenlink.net is having trouble with your authentication. Contact the ISP for their help.
