My freezer quit, so I bought a new one. I plugged the new freezer in 2 hrs ago. How soon is it safe to put food in it?

I have a freezer full and need to transfer the food to the new one. How long should I wait to transfer the food into the new freezer?

When can I start using my new fridge freezer? When your fridge freezer first arrives, you'll need to let it stand upright for around four hours before turning it on if it's been transported horizontally. If your fridge freezer has been transported upright you'll only need to wait for 30 minutes to an hour.

After plugging the refrigerator in, wait two to four hours and verify that the unit is cooling before putting food inside. Only add food to the freezer once the freezer temperature is below 0°F (-18°C).

I suggest you purchase (and use) Refrigerator & Freezer Thermometers.

    I use:
