How about raise the age to buy a rifle to 21 and all gun purchases have medical and criminal background checks?

Those who have a criminal record OR have a medical illness be it mental or physical should barr that person from having a gun.

Problem solved America. Would work better than thoughts and prayers I guarantee you,

Arnt the shooters over 21 ?

But here's the deal. With but few exceptions it hasn't been mentally ill people who have done the mass shootings.

It's been disgruntled people who are prejudice, dissatisfied, or angry who have been the mass shooters. These are not certifiable mentally ill shooters.

They would have passed background checks and bought guns legally...even weapons of mass killing. Many of them did.

I would be totally against that. What if the possible gun owner was a disabled police officer, or military veteran. What if it was a deer hunter who fell out of their deer stand because a tree limb broke. Your restrictions are too broad and too vague. No dice

That's a good start as long as your government stops the sales of assault weapons to any swinging richard who wants one.

....aint no fool like an old fool. Marksmanship and gun safety should be taught in middle and high school, including sport shooting matches.

How about enforcing laws already on the books, which is currently NOT being done. LOL

The most prolific serial killers started out with no criminal record, and there is no world-wide data base for physical and mental health.

I work with people who are severely mentally ill, and many of them are convincingly "normal" between their psychotic breaks.

Are you really that obtuse? Why in the world would a simple physical ailment bar a law abiding citizen from owning or carrying a weapon and being able to defend themselves.

Are you suggesting everyone who goes to the doctor for a cold or stitches be stripped of their rights?

I sense the founding father rolling in their graves.

How about classifying assault rifles as "any other weapon" under the National Firearms Act, and let owners buy a license from ATF for $5. How about de-classifying .22 LR semi-automatic rifles as assault weapons. No army on earth uses .22 LR in combat.
