How much raise should I ask for?

I been working at my company for a year, and I had 2 other co-workers in my department when I started. They both quit already so I’m already the oldest employee. I sit right next to my boss and help him with his work. I currently make 40k. How much should I ask for. I’m an accountant

For 1 year? Zero. There are more accountants out there than jobs. The time to bring up a potential raise is during a job review, when you can tout your accomplishments to prove you are worth the extra money. P S You are an accountant. Can the company afford to pay you more??

If you are an accountant at the company how is the company doing financially? You should be able to point to some numbers to bolster your ask. If things are financially difficult for the company right now you should ask for a 5% raise or a COLA. If things are okay look up pay for your job at other companies in your area on a site like Glassdoor to get an idea about how much to ask for.

At least 50% and tell him you walk immediately if you don't get it.
