would this be a good way to settle extra innings?

There has been some talk about putting a man on second in extra innings in order to keep a game from going 15 0r 16 innigns. How about this scenario? after 10 innings youstart the 11th with runners at 1st and 3rd 1 out. A batter who would bunt would have to execute a perfect bunt to get the runner in from 3rd. If he doesn't the runner from 3rd has to hold up. There is also the possiblility of bunting it into the air and it turning into a double play so it wont be as easy as it sound to get the runner in from 3rd. And by starting the inning with 1 out a double play ends the inning. The batter could swing and hit a sc fly I get it but he could also ground into an DP. If you start with just the runner at 2nd it's easy to bunt him to 3rd and a sac fly with one out scores him. With 1sst and 3rd 1 out there are more possibilities to get out of the inning. Point is you can;t make it easy but you can;t have games going 15 and 16 innings with teams using all their players.

According to this article (link in the source field), about 8.7% of MLB games go into extra innings. Over 80% of the time, the game is over by the 12th inning.

That means that less than 2% of all MLB games will last 13 innings or longer.

Only about 0.4% of all games go into the 15th innings - that's about one out of every 250 games. This means that an average MLB team will go nearly 2 seasons between "marathon" 15 inning games.

There is no problem here. We don't need new tiebreaker rules. The current system has worked just fine for over a century, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

They should leave the game as it is; not many games go to extra innings, and if they do, more commercials are run so more money is made. Why would MLB want to stop that.

I like the man on second idea, but this would also give an unfair advantage to the home team.

The proposal of starting with a man on second means it's not baseball anymore. Your idea diminishes baseball even further.

No, I don't think that what you suggested is a good idea.

Why mess with the game. So few games go into extra innings it isn't worth messing with

'Point is you can;t make it easy but you can;t have games going 15 and 16 innings with teams using all their players.'

Point is the game has been fine for 150 years playing occasional long extra inning games.

I would blame both managers for having a tie game after the 9th inning.
