Is Hurricane Dorian the most powerful storm on record or ONE of the most powerful?

    The most powerful was Hurricane Patricia.

    It is 12th of the ones on record. Of course, we do not know about any hurricane more than 200 years ago.

    No even close,,Dorian is much a common hurricane, strong at cat 5 but lots of those in the past.

    Katrina and Wilma beat the salt out of Dorian.

    If it stays cat 5 at landfall, yea, good competition but only a ribbon.

    One of the most powerful. Watch how low the central air pressure goes. Katrina was 902 miilibars. That was 2005. I think the lowest air pressure on record is 897 millibars, but I don't remember the name or year.

    Oh. Yes, the strongest was Wilma, also 2005. New Orleans is one of my 4 hometowns. The New Orleans s I grew up in is gone.

    It's only one of the most powerful. There have been others. Hurricane Wilma in 2005 is currently the record holder of strongest Atlantic Hurricane.
