Who is the leader of Japan?
There is still an Emperor in Japan and it's Naruhito, but there is a prime minister, Shinzo Abe. When I look up leader of Japan, Shinzo Ave comes up but there is an Emperor which throws me off. Who is the actual leader in Japan? Naruhito or Shinzo Abe?
I need this answer, it's for my Government class project.

Abe is the Prime Minister.
The Emperor stopped being the leader at the end of WWII - now he is the "Symbol of the State" - he has no executive powers.

The Emperor of Japanese does not have any political power. He (or she in the case of Empress) is only a figurehead or symbol. It is the same as in Britain where they have queen and a prime minster, but it is the prime minster who is the leader of the Britain (United Kingdom).

Abraham "Abe" Shinzo is the prime minister, which is basically the president, but also a minister. So he can also marry people and deliver religious sermons, which a president cannot do. The emperor is basically the pope of the Japanese, so he is the chosen representative of God, Buddha, Lord Jesus Christ, and Amaterasu, the goddess of the sun and mother of God, in the Japanese church, which came out before the Catholic Church was put in.

It's just like the UK, where Queen Elizabeth is the titular head, but it'e the Prime Minister who's really in charge.
